The front panels of our models are suitable for both bottom and top cabinets and are compatible with both right and left hinges.
If the hinges are on the right, the door is right-handed. If the hinges are on the left, the door is left-handed.

Horizontal doors refer to doors that open vertically (upwards).
IKEA has changed the hinge system for horizontal doors. For new kitchens, choose horizontally adjustable drawer fronts.

The sides are the cover panels used on the sides of the cabinet frames. The panels are designed to give the design a coherent and cohesive look. It is therefore natural to choose the same colour for the side panels as for the front panels. The sides are also used as linings and are usually cut and adjusted during assembly.
Our side panels are made of 12 mm MDF board and have the same material and finish as the front panels. However, they can also be customised and manufactured to the same thickness as the front panels.
Side panels are usually wider than the cabinet itself. This covers the frame itself, the thickness of the front (door) panel plus a few mm to allow for adjustment to the wall/floor, which is often uneven. Note that our side panel dimensions are rounded to the nearest centimetre. Exact dimensions can be found under the blue question mark next to the product, dimensions may vary +/-1 mm. Our side panels are universal and most of them have the same dimensions as Ikea's. If you want the side panels to be flush with the front panels, it may be necessary to order them with a wider width. Whether this is necessary and what width depends on the type of design (the thickness of the front panel you choose) and the way the cabinet frame is attached (with or without Ikea fixing rail).

The sides can be adjusted by cutting the sides facing the wall or floor. Side panels should be fitted from the inside of the cabinet using fixing screws. The screws are not included in the side panel kit, so we recommend using very standard fixing screws, which can be purchased separately.
If you need side panels in sizes that are not in the standard range, it is common practice to order panels one size larger and then cut them to fit. Side panels can also be used for other purposes such as shelving and furniture.
The plinth is a cover used to conceal the opening between the bottom cabinet and the floor. The covers are made from 18 mm waterproof MDF and treated with the same durable paint as your front panels. The covers are supplied with staples and screws and are available in two lengths (1.2 and 2.4 metres) for on-site adaptation.
